Bear Republic: Racer 5

Name: Bear Republic: Racer 5
Brewed In/Type: Healdsburg, CA / IPA
Bought at/Price: Binny's / $4.69 22oz
Dennis: The third bear republic brew we've tried, this is definitely a solid IPA for those of us who enjoy hops a bit more than others. The taste really comes through after the swallow, where the bitter hops really kick in and leave a lingering taste. I'm assuming it's the aggressive blend of columbus and cascade that packs the punch in this brew. Alcohol wise, it clocks in at the upper scale of IPA's at 7%. Easily recommended for lovers of hop, first timers might want to start out with a Sierra Nevada.
Jen: This brew starts out with a nice light scent of floral hops. The first sip does give you that punch of hops in your mouth, but the aftertaste hits the roof of your mouth with a bang, but then quickly disappears leaving a nice dry ending. I guess Dennis I see the finish differently. The malts do a nice job of balancing out the bitterness of the hops, but not too much, the hops are still the most noticeable thing in it.
