As most of you know from my previous case review, I have (what i consider) a very nice case. So of course its my duty as a geek to make it cooler.....because we all know how much chicks dig computer..right? So without further ado...

CASE MOD #1: Blue power LED

In the first pic you see just a general case picture, then next you see my most trusted and true tool, my Craftsman #2 Phillips (Model: 41296 K WF), with a shaft depth of 8"s (OK, stop the snickering dammit) it makes reaching the face plate screws soooooo easy. Oddly enough I bought it back in like 1995 to work on a boom box which had recessed screws, but its been my favorite tool of choice for years. (I said stop that dammit).
The third pic is an image of the case front, the way it was. Then next you see what happens when you unscrew the 3 faceplate screws on each side.

First off, here's the switch/LED assembly, and then next we see the donor. I picked it up at RadioShack (DUH! I know) for about 5.99, not the cheapest price I know, but it sure as heck was quicker than ordering off line, I mean you gotta strike while inspiration is fresh. Then you'll see the donor wire from an old keyboard lock switch (off an old AT P-66 586 case I had in the closet).
Then fourth, after a little solder and heat shrink tubing, VOIL!
Lastly, you'll see the assembly with the green factory LED removed, all i did was open up the hole a little with the screwdriver and use the top post to wire tie the LED to for support.

And here we go, works like a friggin' charm and makes a nice night light (yes, the LED is a little strong, but hey its blue.......so who cares). Ya know the strength of this LED made me start thinking about back lighting the front grill, and mixing in a red LED to create a purple look.....oh well thats for later :)
