Free Vista Ultimate, just what I always wanted
It's just to bad there's no way in hell I can afford a computer it'll run on.
Apparently, being part of the beta means that when it's over you get a free copy of it. I mean maybe I can get my xbox 360 to finally work with media center. But I really wonder how putting it on a 2ghz w/ 512mb ram is going to perform. RC1 didn't do too badly... but of course that means I'll have to put more work into it to get everything ready.
Of course I really should get some more practice in on Vista. I was at an AT&T's customer site yesterday trying to help them with their DSL. I got some IW issues fixed, and the stats look amazing on their line now. But despite that the Vista machine was like tryiing to surf the web using a commodore 64. Of course it was a Dell machine, so I susptect that it's loaded down with crap and bloatware. But I mean it really was that painful...horrible performance, sure it looked pretty but if it was me I'd have returned the thing.
Of course the whole problem is that Vista is so new all of my old tricks don't necessarily work. I can't remove norton and put avast on because avast isn't tested with Vista. I can't just run spybot because who knows what it will detect, and I'm not even sure if the whole registry/startup layout is the same to make sure i'm not letting unnecessary programs run in the background.
Guess it seems like I'll have to install Vista and start playing :/
Why did dell decide to crapware-ify Vista so badly....
