clouds in my coffee

clouds in my coffee

In the interest of getting more performance out of my computer I've been doing a lot of deep cleaning. So in the last few days I've defrag'd, virus scanned, and edited more registry entries than the rest of my live. This includes: - Lavasoft AdAware
- Spybot: Search and Destroy
- RegSupreme
- Regseeker
- HijackThis
- CWShredder Just to make sure my computer is running as well as possible. The scary part is some day when I do need to upgrade It'll be cheaper to just buy a dell and rebuild it than make my own.
So I went to costco today to buy a ladder. Now maybe it's because it's superbowl weekend or whatever, but the damn place was packed to the gills. It was to much for even me, I just turned around and walked the hell out. I mean screw that I'll just come back first thing tomorrow, or on a week day. Ok, not much for me, I have a headache, but have some links and I'll post more next time. This whole house thing is just to stressful (plus I sat on my glasses yesterday, and i'm still pissed about it).
- Translation of Lil' Kim's "Magic Stick" into caucasian.
- What would a strick diet of only McDonald's do to you? Pretty much almost kill you.
- Have you had a visit from the stool fairy lately? If not you can schedule one.....*scary* Later guy's, lot's to do and i'm only going to get busier. Damn feline roadrage! I suppose if I had to lick my own ass I'd be mad too!(curtosy of donna)

more fun that digging out two cars from snow

Super Mario Rampage
And don't forget your daily dose of hypocrisy. I'd post more, but i'm damn tired and not even on my main computer (would you believe my comp, my clean machine, and laptop are all turned off....at once????). Long day, up early working in reno, nv, got to work and got bash installed and ssh re-enabled for my login account. Ran some scripts to measure traffic, and have a long night ahead of me re-enabling SNMP in soutfield, mi and reloading the 10k there (perhaps). time for sleep.......

37!

So between last night around 4pm and this morning, I've gotten about 23 emails with virus's attached to them. Oddly enough, none of the AOL accounts I have access to received any of them at all (although there were plenty of emails on how to get a huge gorilla sized penis). It seems some times, that when you can't spend any money it's when you want most to spend some. Now, it's not that I'm poor, or realy couldn't afford to buy pretty much anything I want. It's just that we want to invest in the house more than anything at this current time. That being said, I found the coolest thing ever (for at least this week):
How cool is that? It's a 75 cd organizer that connects via USB to your computer and keeps a database of what CD is where. You can even program it to remind you to return CD's after a period of time. Here's a demo. Cost's about 99 bucks, which is not to bad really. Personally I think it'd make a perfect valentine's day gift :-P Well better go make some coffee.....still tired from working last night's maintenance window.

interesting

looks like that virus i've been seeing has a name W32.Novarg.A@mm Looks like it's spreading like wildfire....so watch out

God must love moron's

That's the only reason so explain why he made so many...... So i've been getting dictionary attacks of virus's to a bunch of emails at my site: julie (at) dennisjudd (dot) com
dslreguser (at) dennisjudd (dot) com
bill (at) dennisjudd (dot) com And they are all coming from the same damn IP address of 63.161.118.40. Which belongs to:

So after talking to his "computer guy" (...and I bet he's even certified) they (Pablo, the wonder tech/front desk guy) tell me that they dont have any SMTP servers onsite. So pablo transfer's me to their dedicated Sprint tech support....and here I sit smack in the middle of "smooth jazz hold music" limbo. Actually the guy at sprint/Frank was pretty nice about the whole thing (me not being a customer and all) so we'll see what happens. Supposedly he's escilating it to an engineer. So the summary is: Don't open email's that just say "hi" or "hello', and especially don't open strange zip files called "document.zip" or "body.zip". Fucking virus's......guess I should head home.

VI? jeesh I want pico!

Despite the crappy weather here today, some good things have been happening. I got a new sun desktop delivered today (Ultra 5) so that's pretty cool. I chairmanned a pretty cool conf call today about tunnel grouping, and I think we actually got a lot achieved. Also got a chance to wear a wool sweater I got for christmas for the first time (thanks jen). ....strange, just got like 4 virus's with the attachement "document.zip" which is nothing but a poorly hidden exploit of a *.pif file.....oh well, looks like a new virus just dumped itself on the web. Speaking of stupid people, you have to watch this video: - How not to pull a car out of snow. And remember the future is in our childrens hands *shudder*.....

living my life online, just for you

Is there anyway finer to spend a sunday off than combing thru radus debug log's and converting hexadecimal? I submit that there isn't! Only 8 more days till the closing! Very nervous about anything going wrong, not to mention the huge amount of work this is going to generate. Already have plans to be moving stuff all day after the closing (gotta get my tools and workbenches over before I can get any work done on the house). Spent a lot of time lately looking for supplies for the new house. Sure we are on a budget, but we want to find the perfect stuff of course. For example right now we are looking at:
- Kenmore Elite Fridge
- Price pister faucet (stainless steel of course) Thats about all we know for sure now. Of course the sink isn't really important as far as who makes it. Just as long as it's 18 gauge or so. Plus we can't really order any Pergo until we sign on the dotted line.....no sense in investing in something until it's final, right? So basically I'm relaxing today, trying to stay warm, and playing some FFX-2 (in the 99 bevelle dungeon, level 54 I think). Maybe later on I'll drop by rick and kristin's to steal some beer, but for now i'm just going to eat my instant chicken ramen and relax (and keep the cat's warm apparently). Fear not faithful reader, for I have not forgotten your need for clever, funny links to read on your day off: - Starsky & Hutch: Check out the trailer :)
- Convenience store clerk charged with stealing winning ticket from customer. Really interesting story.
- Woman's skin falls off........lives to tell tale. Words "holy" and "crap" reported to have been said.
- Learn more about Mad Cow disease. An oldie but goodie.
- Car surfing stunt ends in dead kid. Jackass blamed by default, court issues summon's for "teen wolf". Responsibilty reportedly banned from proceedings.

Anyone want some coffee?

I want to propose a change. I believe that we, as a nation, should convert to metric time as opposed to standard. This would give me many more needed hours in the day to complete everything I need to get done. From planning that pesky OSPF conversion for the ERX 1400's to hashing out the implementation of tunnel grouping in a wholesale L2TP tunnel environment in order to gain dynamic balance loading and redundantcy. Not to mention doing the dishes, and the cat litter. Oh yeah and we're buying a house. My mom's house is having a home inspection saturday, and aside from ripping up the carpeting, replacing the toilet, and moving everything out of my mom's garage (mostly tools, but some other crap), I still am trying to keep up with all the new tv on.... back in a minute, scrubs is on...... ...ok, i'm back. but i have to hurry before ER comes on... So any way's...bitch, bitch, bitch. Moan, piss, moan, piss, rinse, repeat. My life sucks, everything's overwhelming, and these pants make my ass look fat. Links? Low in carbs and fat:
- Skydiving babies and giant breasts. What more could you want?
- Great article on the SCO vs. The world mess going on. Lot's of good background. ...awww crap, ER is a repeat. - Credit cards are evil....nobody listens to me when I say that.
- Need a new laptop? Try the new Amish 2k4 model.
- How much Beer is in a Keg? Rob's site is very witty, and has enough content to last a lifetime.

What is an MRE?

So here's something pretty cool and stupid of me. Jen got back today from Ireland, and when she was over there she snagged a few military MRE's for me to eat. I've always been fascinated with the entire concept of MRE's since I was in middle school. The idea that a full meal (physically, and nutritionally) could be contained in such a small and efficient space is just fascinating to me. Some of the benfits are:
- No refridgeration or special storage, they just go on a shelf
- small and lightweight (especially compared to can's)
- incredible shelf life! (5 years plus easily)
- all food is pre cooked, and all you need is in it Here's a pic of the outside and inside:
That green thing is what's called a "heater", basically it's a one time use bag for heating the main entree up to 200 degrees. This isn't necessary to eat it, but it is a nice feature to eat warm food compared to cold. The cool thing is it only uses water as the catalyst, and not much water at that. So I just thought that was pretty cool. I tried the "grilled chicken" one for lunch. It's not the greatest tasting thing in the world....heck, none of it is. But you know what, it's still pretty damn cool. If this was all I had to eat, I couldn't be to happy, but fuel is fuel and this beats eating bugs and twigs. Oh and the gifts just keep coming, Jen also grabbed some beer for me while she was in Cyprus:
THEY'RE HUGE! It's like some type of European 40oz ghetto thing going on. Pretty cool though ;) Oh yeah, and I upgraded from 2.51 to 2.66 Moveable Type, so if your that spammer that tried to post a comment in every post i've ever made last night you can kiss my hairy mother fucking, son of a bitch, rosey red ass! Oh yeah, and I banned your IP.....dipshit.

bandages, bandages

So Rick and Kristin moved today back to IL. It's kind of funny because I helped them get ready to move out to St. Louis and now when they move back (like 2 blocks away) i'm moving away in about a month. Kinda sucks, but it's always good to have friends back where you can mock them in person instead of via email :) Speaking of which as thanks for my help they brought me some Fat Tire beer! Rock on! I mean not even some sissy little pansy 6 pack but a full 12 pack! Oh yeah, and btw, rich as the couch from fucking hell! This thing just damn near fit in the apartment. Now I'm not talking about the standard "just damn near fit" I'm talking about the "break out the butter and grease the sides cause if you don't i'm gonna take an axe and make it a sectional" just fit. But I really shouldn't complain, cause we're gonna be moving in a month and I need all the help I can get just to move my filing cabinet (imagine ancient egyptian's moving the stones they used to make the pyramid's.....yeah, it's kind of like that). Speaking of lot's of stuff in tight places, check out this link. It's a house that's filled with so much crap it's frightening. Wait a minute....did you look at the link? No, i'm not kidding....you need to see this.
Now I don't know if you know me or not, but i've seen and done a lot of crap in my life. I cleaned out my Grandparent's house, and my mother's when she passed away. I've seen other things in other house's I'd rather never remember (basements full of cat shit, and kitchen ceilings with rotting holes), and i'm telling you...this puts them all to shame.
Googlism?
dennis is full of shit
dennis is a member of the directors guild of canada
dennis is in thailand

*cry* IT'S TRUE, IT'S ALL TRUE!!!!! *sob*

Sin

You give me the reason.
You give me control.
I gave you my Purity.
My Purity you stole.
Did you think i wouldn't recognize this compromise.
Am i just too stupid to realize.
Stale incense old sweat and lies lies lies It comes down to this.
Your kiss.
Your fist.
And your strain.
It get's under my skin.
Within.
Take in the extent of my sin You give me the anger.
You give me the nerve.
Carry out the sentence.
I get what i deserve.
I'm just an effigy to be defaced.
To be disgraced.
Your need for me has been replaced.
And if i can't have everything well then just give me a taste.

needs a title

So what did you do this evening?
I took apart my PlayStation 2 and cleaned the laser (Light Amplified Stimulated Emissions of Radiations) lens. No more DRE's (disk read error) anymore at least. At least it gave me something to do during The Apprentence instead of watching it. God please, if your reading this, bring back scrubs......uh...and give me super powers cause that would be pretty cool too. :)

Word of the Day

Word of the Day for Thursday January 15, 2004 serendipity \ser-uhn-DIP-uh-tee\, noun:
The faculty or phenomenon of making fortunate accidental
discoveries. It was very serendipitous that I found the cat in the refridgerator before he froze to death or suffocated. Mood: *stressed*

when the rain washes you clean you'll know

Ever heard of the fat boy? I never did before today, but I guess I was the only one. Had a hell of a day fighing with an OC3 card in reno, nv that decided to just loose one of its port. And then, of course, infra give me an ip that's outside the range of the subnet. Couldn't even get to the gateway even though we could see the MAC. I finished the book "dude, where's my country" by Micheal Moore. It's a really good book for the most part (gets kinda preachy at the end). You know what I really miss, my suscription to The Onion....still have a bunch of old ones sitting in a box here. Guess I'll use them to pack for moving. Well, almost time for Star Trek: Enterprise, and besides i can't type with gizmo climbing all over me. later...

January 12, 2004

a skunk knocked over my garbage

...and all i could think about was you.
Why the hell is it that cat's feel they must attack toilet paper roll's as if they are mortal enemies? I swear, if I walk into the bathroom and find one more shredded roll i'm gonna kill somebody. Speaking of shitty things, I seriously can't wait for the "reality-TV/fake scripted bullshit" fad to end.

where good luck goes, bad luck follows

Still waiting for the bad luck to come my way.... Walking out of Dominick's today after picking up some pizza (every friday is pizza day, we buy all the seperate toppings ourselves and make a great pizza for cheap) I walked by the ATM and noticed $20 bucks sitting in the money slot. There was nobody nearby that had used it recently, and nobody around so I took it. My reasoning is that if I turned it in to the branch office right next to it in domincks, they probably would only keep it themselves. Also they wouldn't be willing to check the video tape for the last person to use the ATM i'm sure. Plus really, how can you prove whose it is. The funniest part is the reciept was missing, so I couldn't even track them via that. The remembered their reciept, but forgot their money...... Oh well.....I feel a little bad, but it's not like 20 is that much anymore (remember when it was huge, especially back when $.10 candy was around like Mr. Melon, Alexander the Grape, and Red Hots). Scary eh? Speaking of scary, here's a little video I'd like to share with you all it's called: Should my arm, bend this way? I'm sure you'll find it very eye opening. Also I have an intersting picture and story to share. Here is the picture:
It's a touching story of a Truck, a House, and how the forces of gravity destroyed their love.....and the west corner of the house.

January 08, 2004

my ass is possessed by a small evil spirit

Just another day of fun in the life of a home buyer. I snapped some new, bigger resolution pictures of the house when we were there today earlier. I think they came out real nice, much better than the little dinky one I had up before. I also added some really cute cat pics, and of course just some other stuff. Every day I'm getting more and more done organizing the pictures and stuff. Of course I had to work also, so that keeps me away from stuff. Got a new tire on Jen's car, did some shopping, swapped two AC power supplies in STLSMO...you know, standard stuff.
Link's.....links you say? Why how dare you *slap* - Potty train your cat. Um...yeah, right.
- Apple announces the mini-Ipod. For 50 bucks more you can get a regular 40gb one....but just like mini M&M's they're hard to resist. I want one.....:(
- $1.99 bottle of wine at Trader Joe's has the Wine Industry scared. Whino's and my liver rejoice!
- To much free time at work leads to this. I wonder where the toilet goes?
- Fiancé Farce Finds Home on Fox. The collective intelligence of the US shudder it's last dying breath.

when your angels shout, is your heart strung out

Ok, I have a simple little test, When approaching a 104 foot waterfall in a Kayak do you:
A. Scream like a little girl and pee yourself
B. Begin backpeddling as fast as you can.
C. Paddle harder towards it If you answered C, then aside from having ice for blood and cahones of steel you'd be a great partner for this guy.
Credit to Jeremy for the video that makes me never want to go near a river again (this coming from a guy whose skydived). Did a lot of work on the photo album area again. There's still a lot of them to sort and i'm still getting a feel for how I want it to look. I figure i've added about 30+ pictures recently (most of the new house).
Which reminds me, seems like the seller's signed the contract and it's already been forwarded to the lawyer and the bank. So barring any unforseen circumstances we are a go! Can't wait to tell Jen when she gets home today....speaking of which where the heck is she? I'm starving and there's like no food left in this house. :( How about some links to tide me over:
- Read this entry at Penny Arcade. It's just unbelievable how craptacular the media can be at times.
- Care to test your Digital IQ? I got 150 personally. Then again it's just a stupid fun little test.
- There's a new show on A&E called Airline, it's about Flight Attendants and what there job's are like in a reality TV kinda way. Can't wait for one called Engineers or something like that next.
- Now you don't have to play 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon on your own. You can use this handy website to automatically figure it out for you.
Well, that's it for me. Gonna go play some FFX-2 while waiting for Jen to get home so I can convince her to go to Subway and get some dinner. I know we're tying to save money, but 7.99 for 2 foot long sub's ain't bad :)

January 03, 2004

So where's all this snow?

I hate all this waiting......I want to get working on that house already. Need to start ripping up carpet and getting rid of it! Must get all my tools over to new garage of manliness.... Anyways, I haven't been lazy all day. I uploaded all the pics we have of the place into a new photo album. One bad thing is I'll loose DSL when I move.....so no more webcam (losing static ip's) or employee discount. Gonna have to find another type of broadband :( Well, I've stalled long enough. Time to go do the dishes....

January 02, 2004

They say Confucious does his crossword with a pen

Oh no, this can't be good:
I don't think the rogaine is working :(

January 01, 2004

moving soon.....

Well it looks as if my time on this earth is limited. At least my time on this earth living at this apartment.
Me and Jen put in an offer and it was accepted on a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom house with a full basement in a nearby town and it was accepted. So around this time next month, we'll be home owner's and no longer have to deal with neighbors screaming, fire engines going off at 11pm, or waiting 10 minutes for the f**king elevators! It's really scary honestly, to make such a huge purchase and commint yourselves to a mortgage and stuff like that. No more anime dvd's, no more playstation games, even have to cut back on drinking. In the benefits far exceed the cost. That is except for one thing...the house doesn't have DSL :( There's still such a long way to go, and so much more work to do. The worst part is how burned out I am after just doing my mom's house a few months ago. But i'm sure we'll both gather the energy up somehow to make the changes. And honestly, if you know me, you know I can be pretty handy around the house as long as I commit to doing it. Nothings for certain until the actual day of the closing and such, but the home inspection went pretty well. No major surprises that we felt couldn't be remedied. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Super Sarcasmo! You're the one with all the witty
wisecracks. We bow before you. Really, we do.

What Weird Quote Are You?

- Chicago panhandlers get $99,000 settlement. WTF!
- Christmas bonus stuns employees. And I didn't even get a Hot Cocoa Sampler....
- Cyber blackmail becoming more popular.
- Ever read about what happened to General Magic? It's a great story about what lead up to the dot-com bust of the late 90's and how a concept we recognize as being a standard (PDA's) was almost killed. Ok, that's enough for me. I've got to go clean the kitty litter and reheat some beef stew for dinner since i'm out of pizza rolls :) Welcome to 2004 everybody!
