Poperings: Hommel Ale

Name: Poperings: Hommel Ale
Brewed In/Type: Belgium / Belgian Ale
Bought at/Price Binny's / $1.99 a bottle (clearance)
Dennis: Grabbed this one based on the recommendation of somebody at our local Binny's. At a $1.99 down from $3.99 I figured I had nothing to loose, plus 7.5% alcohol doesn't sound to shabby. The only real issue I had with this brew was the high level of sediment in the bottle due probably to the fact that it's a belgium ale. The aroma is slight weak, reminding me of a tripel ale with some hop hints to it. The taste is pretty much what you'd expect, sort of a smoother belgium ale with a hop distinction. Quite good, but for the price can't really be a daily drinker.
Jen: This is not a typical Belgian ale. They use three types of hops in this brew which gives it a tangy bitter ending. It is also extremely carbonated, almost Alka Seltzer fizzy. I do get a slight tartness to it like a granny smith apple. This is a pretty decent beer, however, I can't imagine paying the full price for it!

Pretty good stuff! Ironically I got it on sale for $1.99 as well.
