Avery: 14'er ESB

Name: Avery: 14'er ESB
Brewed In/Type: Boulder, CO / Extra Special Bitter Ale
Bought at/Price Binny's / $8.99 6pack
Dennis: This bitter starts out with a really strong hop aroma (for a typical ESB that is) that almost reminds you of an IPA. The body comes across thicker than you'd think but still easy to drink, and the majority of the swallow is tied up in the bitterness of it (not to high of IBU though). Over all, not the most amazing beer, but definatly what could be considered as an "old standby". Easy to drink, hoppy enough to please, and hard to turn down.
Jen: This may not be Avery's best brew, but it is a well crafted ale. It starts off with a nice citrusy hop flavor that reminds me of grapefruits. I also get a mild piney taste to it. The body of this is balanced with the taste of mild malts and ends with a nice crispness. Overall, this is easily drank and goes down quite smoothly.

He'Brew: Jewbelation 5766

Name: He'Brew: Jewbelation 5766
Brewed In/Type: New York / Brown Ale
Bought at/Price Binny's / $4.99 22oz bottle
Dennis: When Jen wanted to try a beer called "Jewbelation" I was very skeptical. It sounded like something right out of a Weird Al song to me, and was just tacky. After having drank some though I have to say I was surprised at how good this brew was. The name is supposed to represent various things, including the fact that it uses 9 different hops, 9 different malts, and that it's 9% alcohol. Whatever it is they put in this really works together well. Almost a "double" brown ale, the aroma is very brown ale-ish, roasty with some hops. The body is medium, really not to thick for the type of beer this is. The taste is very rich, malty, with a bit of an alcohol kick. 1/2 way though the glass you'll be feeling no pain, that's for sure. Definitely worth trying, and quite a good brew at that.
Jen: I definitely find brown ales to be my favorite genre of brews, and this one will fit right in with my list. This is very rich with chocolaty burnt malts with a dash of coffee. It has 9 hops in it that become apparent at the end. It is 9% ABV, which I would not have believed by the taste. There is a slight twinge of an alcohol taste, but nothing that deters me from taking a swig!

Sea Dog: Raspberry Wheat Ale

Name: Sea Dog: Raspberry Wheat Ale
Brewed In/Type: Portland , ME / Wheat Ale
Bought at/Price Binny's / $7.99
Dennis: This is raspberry beer. It tastes like raspberries, thin body, unimpressive alcohol (4.5%) and it cost way to much. Even at 1/2 the price I'd of been a little dissapointed, but at least I wouldn't have felt as ripped of.
Jen: I find this to be very similar to their Bluepaw, but Raspberry and slightly more watery. For a berry beer, this is hands down better than Leine's Berry Weiss (which we drank before we started doing reviews), but I find it to be lacking in one area, and that is the taste of beer. This tastes more of raspberry/beer flavored perrier. It isn't bad, but if you have a choice, go with the bluepaw.
