Avery: Hog Heaven

Name: Avery: Hog Heaven
Brewed In/Type: Boulder, CO / Barleywine
Bought at/Price Binny's / $4.99 bomber
Dennis: This is probably the maltiest barley wine I've ever had. Clocking in at 9.2% it does a respectable job of hiding the taste of the alcohol. Rather than sweeten the brew, they chose malts to compliment the high alcohol, which is better than over hopping, in my opinion. Malty, almost no hop smell/taste, and high in content. A very good brew in my opinion, and the value is certainly there. Great for fans of dopplebocks.
Jen: I don't particularly like barleywine style brews. This one isn't too bad (especially for the price). It presents itself with a hoppy yet sweet scent. It follows up with a medium body of sweet malt and ends with a punch of hops. The alcohol content is welled masked by the taste, but it is definitely present. A bargain, and possibly may be purchased again; a decent ale!
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
