Well there was one good thing today, I found out that SBC employees get free copies of McAfee Enterprise AntiVirus (version 8) for as many personal, home computer they want.
That's pretty cool.
Also, yesterday I made a button for the beer website rather than just having a boring old text link:

Any comments are welcome, I decided to not animate it...unless you guys think I should.

Posted by: nick on January 27, 2005 07:21 AMFirst, are you implying that you are employed by SBC?
Second, if you decide to animate the button, you should include a Fight Club-esque twist to it. ;)
Posted by: jessamine on January 27, 2005 02:16 PMactually, the one on the beer website is an animated gif, but it only goes once, and I thought I did a good job on it:
The button looks good but the font should be bold. That way it won't blend in with the surroundings so much. I do like the Fight Clug-esque idea but it might not go well on your home page. The chart....well...it be true!!
Posted by: Tim on January 27, 2005 07:42 PMokay I should clarify. I don't think ALL animated gifs are cheesy, just most of them...I guess that if done tastefully they're not bad..plus my views on the subject might just be the outward manifestation of something close to obsessive compulsive disorder. Have you tried playing with a program called swish? It's kind of like a front page for flash.....(coming from someone who hates html generators) its a quick easy way to come up with some cool site enhancements and is readily available on pretty well all file sharing networks
Posted by: nick on January 28, 2005 06:56 AMno swishing here, i used to do flash back in the day but gave up on it pretty early on.
I don't like most animated gif's either, but I think ours is tasteful, as is the one on top of my site....of course i'm biased :)
