Even our clocks have clocks on them....

Here is something I don't understand...

Just about everything it seems has a clock on it. Our car stereos, cell phones, televisions, coffee makers, stoves, and even our microwaves. So having just recently replaced most of the major appliances in our kitchen I'm curious about one thing.

Why is it I have to set the clock on any major appliance at all?

Seriously, I spent more on these appliances than I did on my first two cars combined. So why is it I can chuck on down to Menard's and pick me up one of them fancy o-tom-ick (atomic) clocks that set themselves automatically and even compensate for DST and they can't integrate this functionality into a major appliance????

Seriously....LG, Maytag, Kenmore...whatever listen to what I have to say. Pay whoever designs your equipment five cents more to add in the functionality to synchronize with the frequency that supplies the time. There is no reason I should have a microwave and stove that both have a clock and are two feet apart that are both a minute apart. My microwave does not exist in a parallel dimension to my stove. This is a no brainer people....

Two thoughts on this ...

1. The DST "standard" tends to move ... based on where you are located (and what government decides to do).

2. Some clocks that claim to be "Auto" set, are not actually "Auto" anything ... they are pre-set at the factory and have a battery. The manufacturer, Sony in the case I'm specifically aware of, has simply redefined the term "Auto" to mean something else. They must have taken a page from Micro$oft's marketing book. In my book, it's clearly false advertising.
