Well at least it's the weekend

I guess I should be happy, but i'm not all that jazzed about being up at this hour because I can't sleep. I suppose it could be worse, I could have a rusty metal spike through my torso....or worse, I could be watching Stepmom.

I ran across this website a few days ago. It's called Godisimaginary.com, and it's basically a list of logical reasons why god can't exist due to conflicting information in the bible. It was a pretty interesting read for me....my favorite one was "the pope has never read the bible" because I was thinking the same thing pretty much myself.

And as an added bonus, somebody refers to god as an "invisible sky daddy"

On a seperate note, I also found this website. Whocalled.us, it's a database online created by people like you and me of telemarketing telephone numbers. Bascially it works like this....if somebody calls you and you don't know who it is...try typing it in to figure out who they are. Kinda cool...I had an idea for a site like this once, but this seems better implimented.

I am a Christian, and by that I mean that Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. Don't equate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as synonymous with Catholicism (or any other religion for that matter).

http://www.godisimaginary.com/ is a funny read, complete rubbish, but funny and clearly written by a person who has zero understanding of the Bible or how to read it.

The Bible cannot be read 100% literally or 100% figuratively. it must also be read within the context of the time it was written as well as who it was written to.

The web site above chose sections of the bible without using the context of the passage or surrounding passages to make its points.

Take point 50 for example. Jesus doesn't appear on Earth now because the Holy Spirit, part of the Trinity, is here now, with believers and indwelling in their hearts. God, Jesus and the Holy spirit are one, so therefore Jesus is in the heart of every believer and is available to all to seek him.

Prayer isn't about asking for something, especially material things, and thinking if you do not get them, theres your proof for God not existing.

Humans have free will. This is why there is evil and so much suffering in the world. God doesn't cause pain and suffering, but he does allow it to refine our character. There is a difference between causing pain and allowing it to happen. Humans choose whether to sin or not sin. As such, every human being must make the choice of whether to follow Christ or not.

In the video above, the reason why God killed everyone in the world at the time of Noah was because of the wickedness of almost everyone on the planet. As far as God was concerned:

Gen 6:6-8
The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And the LORD was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.
So the LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them."
Gen 6:8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

God didn't just up and decide to wipe out the world. The fact that the people who made the video above chose to ignore this clearly shows how they pick and choose what they want from the Bible in order to illustrate their point.

In the video above about the passover (Exodus) what the author fails to mention is the request of Moses to pharaoh to let the Israelites go. He refuses, so this is one of the plagues that follows. It didn't have to happen that way, but pharaoh made a choice and that was one of the consequences.

In Exodus 32, they once again left out WHY the people were to be killed. The beginning of the chapter explains that.

all of their points can be explained away quite easily. The fact is, God's nature isn't one of violence. it is one of patience, but it is also one of justice and as such there are consequences to not obeying God.

I don't claim to know everything about the Bible, but I would be more than happy to discuss things like this if you ever wanted to.

Two things I won't talk about with friends, religion and politics :)

Of course I guess you could say threw down the gauntlet first...

this is a good site too! =)
