son of a b****
I broke my glasses last night :(
i was just cleaning them like normal, and the metal just completly fatigued and bent like a cheap paper clip. The eye doctor won't be able to see me until Monday, and even then it will take days to get new ones.....
dammit....this sucks. oh well at least i was meaning to get them checked up, and it's a good excuse for new frames. maybe i'll get some of those cool ones that automatically turn to sunglasses when they hit UV rays.

ps those venice beach ones cost me all of $6, that's the cheapest I've ever got and made into glasses, next cheapest is my current sunglasses, that I paid $12CDN - 40%, so a bit over $8 CDN!

Be careful about Perle and Lens Crafters.
When I went to Perl (about 3 years ago) they kept making 'mistakes' that doubled the price.
Lens Crafters was just plain expensive (IMHO) ... around $375 for an exam, 2 boxes of toric contact lenses, and new lenses for my existing frames.

Just doing a little searching for venice beach on google when I found this page.
Not much information about the beach here, but always fun visiting other pages.
take care :-)

Ever since high school, a long time ago, when I buy glasses, I find a pair of fairly cheap sunglasses that I like, and have prescription lenses made for them (Walmart's not bad these days!). You can get decent quality, for a good price when you look at sunglasses, much more so than in an optometric store! Spend the difference on multiple pairs, that way you have a supply of spare parts when the frames do eventually break, and they will! I have a pair of wire rimmed peeples knockoffs that I bought on Venice Beach in 1992! If you pick a classic style, then they won't look dated in a few years!

I've always been told by people not to buy the ones that automatically change when light hits them..they say that it takes too long to change back to clear when need be....dunno maybe they've improved lately....look at the bright side...if Dennis has to run to the grocery store after doing research for his beer site and a cop happens to pull him over...when they shine that bright light in your eyes...the glasses got you covered...
