this island

You need to go This Island by Le Tigre:

Really...it's very good. Rough, agressive but poppy. There's power behind it all that you can sense, and that's something very refreshing. Now I just need to get their earlier stuff. If you remember, I posted a link to the Decepacon video earlier. I was at Linen's and things earlier this week and I saw a red coffee maker...this one to be exact:
wtf mate? I mean once I started looking around I noticed there's a plot afoot to make every kitchen red. You've got red mixers, red quesadilla makers, red lobster crackers, red spatulas, even a red freakin' toaster. I mean, are you trying to make you kitchen look like it can do warp 5? It's crazy, but somehow I missed a meeting where all the rich people decided that red was the new "rich" color. Speaking of rich looking things, my legs and arse are sore. Wanna know the connection? Because I built a desk yesterday for my sister. now normally I'm pretty good at these things, so perhaps i'm out of practice or something, but this thing kicked my butt:
It's some type of desk by Christopher Lowell and let me tell you, it's complicated. I mean, not to toot my own horn, but it took me 5 hours to do pretty much. I know it doesn't look like much but trust me, looks can be deceiving. It really is very complicated to put together. Thank god I brought a drill with me. I'm probably just getting fat and lazy. Speaking of fat and lazy, here's a pic Jen caught of me and Chloe. The doctors were able to save my leg once he got off, but i'll have a limp from now on, and can't play the piano anymore. ;)
On an interesting note, I ran across an article about the people who created "six apart", which is the company that created Movable Type...the very program I use every day to create my site and express myself for all my stalkers out there. It's pretty interesting actually, how they did it and what it meant in their life really. The "queen" has her own blog of course, which I found ironic that 2 of the books she is reading I've read. I wonder if that has some type of similarity into the type of people who crave global acceptance, or perhaps maybe i'm full of brown stinky stuff :) Is blogging really the y2k version of the diary kept when we were little, or is it simply the result of a generation weened on television hungry for our 15 minutes of fame? How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a tootsie roll pop? I guess the world may never know...

hmmm...wouldn't say i'm a wil wheaton fan per say, but I have been to his site in the past. had no idea he uses movable type. I guess it's kinda obvious....

I've been waiting to see Six Apart's presence through LJ and either they're taking their sweet time doing it, or not much will happen. In an LJ press release, current members were told that everything would stay the same, except we would get more designs to use for layouts.

BTW, don't know if you are a Wil Wheaton fan, but he also uses Movable Type for his blog.

Come to think of it.....my wife and I received a big bright friggin red quesedilla maker for christmas...doesn't go with a single thing in our kitchen...perhaps it's time to make my disdain for red appliances known to immediate and extended family.
