My eye's! The goggles do NOTHING!

I forgot to mention something yesterday. It was very embarassing. VERY embarrassing. I used to use an old win98 for emulating old video game systems (such as NESticle) and I used an old Compaq analog 2 button gamepad because it was just like the original nes controller. So I figured I could use it for FF7 at least to move my guy around, until I found my 4 button one (which is hiding one me right now). So I plugged it in to the port in my sound card, just like I did before, and for some reason I can't get it work. I reload, check the bios to make sure I didn't disable it, check the device manager in winXP, still no joy.
So Jen is sitting next to me on the couch (my comp is currently running output to my big screen tv, so i can enjoy ff7 to it's fullest ;P) and says "isn't there a game controller thing you have to setup in the control panel?" Sure as shit, that was the problem. I spent the next 10 minutes bitching about stupid XP, but really I just felt like an idiot. :( Oh well.....in other news we finished ripping up all the carpeting last night in the whole house. I tell you what, I'll be damn glad to get rid of it. After seeing what's under it I don't think I'll ever be a supporter of carpeting again. Plus, the bastards who installed it used like a million staples on the padding. It's a freakin' nightmare to get them all up, I both our hands are cramping up like crazy (that reminds me, I need knee pads). Let's see, that leaves Pergo (coming next week), painting, installing a humidifier to the furnace, getting the duct's cleaned and furnace, and moving. All before the 23rd when I have to fly out of town for a business trip. No problem at all. Actually that reminds me of a story of some idiot I know who installed a whole house water filter, and didn't even do it close to right. So he had rags in the closet under it to catch the dripping water. Now that's the wrong way to do something. Well back to work, my contacts are buggin' me and I still have to troubleshoot a GigE problem in SFLDMI.
